Students using MML for the first time:

If you want an online demo of the following process, go to http://www.firstdaysofclass.com/demos_math.html, and under MyMathLab, you will see links to a movie, a PowerPoint demonstration, and a Word document with instructions.  Please note that our MyMathLab course may be customized differently than the course in the demo.  Still, this will give you an idea what MyMathLab is like.

  1. Before you get started, you must have the course ID (listed in the table at the top of this page) and a MyMathLab access code.

  2. Enter Internet Explorer and go to the site http://www.coursecompass.com.

  3. Click on the Register link in the Student Section.

  4. On the page that lists the required items, click on Next.

In the first section (Do you have a Pearson Education Account?), select “No, I am a new user.” This is the default so you really shouldn’t have to do anything here.

  5. In the Access Code section, enter your access code in the blanks provided.  This is the six-word code that is required for the course.  It may have come with a new textbook (usually in the leaflet on the front inside cover – you will need to pull the tab off or scratch it off) or it may be purchased separately from the bookstore or at http://mymathlab.com with a credit card.

  6. In the School Location section, enter the zip code for CSU – 31907.  Select the country for the school – United States and click Next.

  7. Enter the appropriate course ID from the table above and click Next.

  8. You are now instructed to enter your account information.  Enter your first name, last name, and email address.  (Note: Enter your CSU email address.  Make sure the spelling is correct.)

  9. Choose our school name from the list – Columbus State University.

  10. Enter your Login info – a login name and password.  Don’t forget these, as they are your way to enter the online course. Choose a security question and enter the appropriate answer and then click next.

Students who previously used MML and have active accounts:

  1. Start Internet Explorer

  2. Go to http://www.coursecompass.com and log into your MML account

  3. If your Course Compass Welcome Page displays, click on the link for “Enroll in a New Course” and enter the appropriate course ID

  4. If your Welcome Page does not display, click on the link for “view account summary.”  Enter your log in information and then click on the link “Enroll in a New Course.”  Now enter the appropriate course ID.

All Students -- Installing your plug-ins:

  1. After you have registered for the course, you must install the plug-ins to view the online materials.  Use Internet Explorer and go to http://www.coursecompass.com.  Log in under student using your login name and password you created above and click on our course.

  2. When you log in to the course, you will be on my Home Page.  To get to the Installation Wizard, click on the MML Info button on the left side of the page.

  3. Click on the link for MyMathLab Installation Wizard.  Read this carefully and follow the instructions.  You need all six plug-ins installed before you can see and do everything in MML.

  4. After you have completed the installation of plug-ins, you must exit your Internet browser and then re-enter your browser so these plug-ins will be recognized.

Note:  If you are an AOL user, you will need to log in to the web through AOL, minimize AOL, and then enter Internet Explorer to go to the MyMathLab web site.  If you don’t have Internet Explorer on your computer, you can download it from the web.
