Text.  Numerical Analysis, Seventh Edition, by Burden and Faires.  Material covered will include sections taken from Chapters 1-5, but sections will be omitted.  If time permits, we may also cover part of Chapter 6.

Course Objectives.  Numerical analysis involves the design, analysis, and implementation of approximation methods for various problems.  In this course, the successful student will learn to:

Tentative Grading Policy.

Course scores will be based on a weighted average of in-class exams, programming projects, other collected homework, and a final exam.

6-10 programs + text hw 30 %
2 or 3 Tests 50 %

Final Exam

20 %

Letter grades will be based upon the following percent ranges:

    A:  90-100        B:  80-89        C:  70-79        D:  60-69

Special requirement:  To receive an "A" or a "B" for a course grade, all assigned homework and programs must be completed.

Missed Exams

No makeup tests will be given. If a student misses a test with my approval, the score on the final exam will be used to replace the missing test score (likewise for additional missed tests).  In the event that a student misses a test without my approval, a zero will be assigned for that test score.  Approval must be obtained in advance if at all possible.

Students with Disabilities.

If you have a documented disability as described by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (P.L. 933-112 Section 504) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and would like to request academic and/or physical accommodations, please contact Joy Norman at the Office of Disability Services in the Center for Academic Support and Student Retention, Tucker Hall (phone 706-568-2330) as soon as possible.  Course requirements will not be waived but reasonable accommodations may be provided as appropriate.
