Gerald Stinson, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the university and Tournament Coordinator, said the all-day contest is certified as a qualifying round for the state mathematics tournament scheduled for later this spring.
Schools were divided into two categories - large and small - and trophies were presented to the top three schools and to the top three individuals in each category. Plaques were presented to the top scorers from each class and trophies were presented to the top scorers from each school.
The team trophies went to:
Category I (Large Schools)
1st Place - Brookstone School, Team Adviser Greg Gregory
2nd Place - Shaw High School, Team Adviser Miriam Lang
3rd Place - Columbus High School, Team Adviser Laura Howard
Category II (Small Schools)
1st Place – Handley High School, Team Adviser Mike Strain
2nd Place - Harris County High School, Team Adviser Bobby Williamson,
3rd Place – Americus High School, Team Adviser Larry Kennedy
